Action
My
junior year yielded a new learning experience for me. I had more
homework than I was used to and this along with extracurriculars
kept me busy. I never had any energy, and my diet began to fall
short. Because of this, I felt unhealthy and constantly tired. It
was time for a change. During
the summer between my junior and senior year I walked in the early
morning to decompress
from over-the-summer IB assignments. My pets needed exercise as
well, so at times I brought along my Rhodesian Ridgeback, my Black
Labrador, and my Chihuahua. This activity every weekday morning was
a method I used to feel healthier during the summer months and made
me aware of my own fitness levels. I have since improved the
distance I am able to walk and run without tiring. This was a new
challenge because I do not usually exercise and have since become
sluggish. Because I performed my walk every weekday for several
weeks, I showed commitment and perseverance. During the winter
months, I also ran on a treadmill once in a while to keep up the
progress that I had built over the summer.Action
Outcomes from this activity:
- Increased awareness of my strengths and areas for growth.
- Undertook new challenges.
- Showed perseverance and commitment.
