Tennis

Weekdays April - June 2015
Action

After school every weekday for at east two to three hours I play tennis on the elementary school courts in my hometown. I do this to build a healthier lifestyle for myself and start healthy habits for the summer. My most frequent opponents were friends and family members, so this was not a professional league by any means. However, I decided to revisit the sport because I was on the school tennis team my sophomore year. I wanted to continue the sort into my junior year, but my skill level was not where it needed to be. So, every day for several weeks I played and practiced for some involvement with tennis in college. This activity was performed to increase my skill during a sport during the off-season. The purpose behind doing this was to further assess my strengths and weaknesses as a tennis player after such a long period without participating in a sport. I learned that I am better at controlling where the ball will land, but I am still not read to serve or hit with ball with substantial force and still expect it to land where I want. During most of my sessions, I am very good at returning the ball, which I' proud of. My skill is not as poor as I once thought. Although not a new challenge, I showed perseverance and commitment to a sport I love, even if I am not professionally involved with t at the time. I developed new skills playing tennis and am still honing the skills that I learn. In order to pay, I must work with others to interact in a match-like setting.

Outcomes from this activity:
  • Worked collaboratively with others.
  • Showed perseverance and commitment.
  • Developed new skills.
